Chapter Thirteen
A few days later
Grim
THE BABIES HAVE come home. We’ve stayed over in the guest room a few days and I’ve been amazed to see the way Joker, Cage, and Sky work together. Not a single one of the kids is left out of anything. Little Jameson is even more overprotective over all of the kids than he was when Alana and Haley came home. It’s awesome to see him want to take care of all the kids and make sure that everyone’s fine. So, the few times we haven’t been able to find him, he’s been in Kyle and Brandon’s room sitting between the two cribs watching over the sleeping babies.
We’ve been through the baptism ceremony. Now we’re back at Sky’s house to get changed to go down to the pond for the party. Bailey and I are in the guest room to change and finish getting ready. All of a sudden she falls to the floor and starts crying her eyes out.
“Crazy girl, what’s wrong?” I ask sinking down to the floor to pull her in my lap.
“Logan, I’m so scared. We don’t know how far along I am and I’m scared as fuck that I’m gonna lose this baby too. I can’t go through that again and I don’t want to disappoint you.”
“Crazy girl, I’ve already told you that we’ll get through it together if anythin’ like that happens. Now, even if somethin’ were to happen, I would not be disappointed at all. The only thing that I’ll be concerned about is you. I know that you can’t go through that shit again. You were broken when you lost Ryan. If it were to happen again, it would kill you. So, we’re gonna take it a day at a time, keep you as relaxed as possible, and we’re gonna talk to the doctor and follow everythin’ she tells us to do.”
Just as she goes to answer me, she jumps up and runs to the bathroom. Over the past few days her morning sickness is getting worse. I don’t know if it’s normal and I don’t know who to ask about it. So, like I do every time, I go in and rub her back while holding her hair back from her face. Then I know we’re gonna lie down for a little while because she doesn’t feel like doing anything when she leaves the bathroom after getting sick. I pick her up and carry her into the guest room and we lay down on the bed over the covers. Even if she passes out, I know I won’t so I just lay down and hold her until she wakes up.
After laying there a little while, I hear voices coming upstairs. From the sounds of it, I’m sure it’s Joker and Cage. So, I slide out from under Bay and make sure she’s still sleeping before I go to the door. There’s no way in hell I’m gonna let anyone wake her up. She needs to rest so that for a little while she’s not thinking about everything that can go wrong.
